KEEP IT CLEAN You can keep your camera out of the repair shop by keeping it clean. Dust is the chief cause of camera repair bills. I use a one inch paint brush to dust the exterior, except the lens, each time before putting it away. The lens should be cleaned by dusting with a camel hair brush or an ear syringe. Your local pharmacist can sell you a pediatrics ear syringe. If it is gentle enough to use in a child's ear, it is gentle enough for your camera lens. Stubborn lens surfaces should be gently cleaned with Kodak Lens Tissue and Kodak Liquid Lens Cleaner. The viewfinder eyepiece can be cleaned with a Q-tip dampened with lens cleaner. If you feel you simply must clean the mirror and mirror cage, do so with extreme caution. Remove the lens to a safe position. Turn the body upside down and blow out the mirror cage with the ear syringe. The mirror should be cleaned by GENTLY wiping with a Q-tip moistened with Kodak Liquid Lens Cleaner. The key word in cleaning is always, GENTLE. |
