Wet Tech

October 1997 Issue

WRINKLE-FREE

Want smooth skin in your black and white portraits? Use ILFORD XP-2 400 film. XP-2 400 is available in 120 and 35mm sizes. The overlapping dye clouds, instead of the usual silver molecules, cause minor skin imperfections to disappear, including some wrinkles (character lines). XP-2 is developed in C-41 color chemistry. If you are photographing a person with a ruddy complexion, with black and white film, use a green filter.
