LOW-END DIGITAL CAMERAS: what are they used for? In editorial photography, mostly for newspaper publication (since high resolution is not required). Some commercial photographers are starting to use digital cameras for brochure work (where the picture size is small). Other uses are newsletters, presentations, catalogs, and Web pages (all areas where the picture size is rather small and resolution is not of prime importance). Advantages: digital cameras are convenient. You have the ability to view images instantly. Scanning and transmitting are easy. No film developing costs. Disadvantages: Resolution is not top quality. Storing the images is a problem unless you invest in high-capacity storage devices. And not least, the high-end cameras are costly.
