Digital Cameras Trying to decide which Browser War Gets Really HOT With the latest legal skirmishes going against Microsoft and its "bundling" of Internet Explorer with Windows 95, what's a company like Netscape to do? Join in, of course! Netscape now offers their browser for free, just like Microsoft. (It's always been available for download from their Web site, www.netscape.com, but if you continued to use it, you were expected to pay for it.) According to James Barksdale, Netscape's CEO, they're going one big step farther and plan on posting their source code on the Internet. What's next? Need Help? When you're trying to figure out the answer to a marketing problem, or just want to "talk shop" with other professionals in our field, consider dropping by the Cracker Barrel on the PhotoSource International Web site. It's a discussion group open to everyone. To go directly to the Cracker Barrel, point your browser and favorite bookmark to www.photosource.com/board/wwwboard/wwwboard.html , and while you're there, bookmark it. Once Upon A Time... Internet Service Providers (ISPs) created their own site content. Now, with search engines such as Excite, AltaVista, Yahoo!, etc., offering so much more than just search capabilities, Prodigy, an early pioneer, has called a halt to developing its own content and instead will link its users to Excite. As a result, Prodigy will be one step closer to being just another ISP, providing connections to the World Wide Web. Time marches on! |
