Distance Imaging

Is international image commerce alive and well on a global scale? Some early efforts are lumbering forward – but the machinery is not altogether in place. A bolt here, a nut there, and inch by inch the plane will someday be ready to fly.

The biggest hurdle to overcome is bandwidth. (Translation: The length of time it takes you to upload a Web page, or Email a digital image file to a photobuyer.) The second hurdle is the inoperability between computers. (Translation: You might have a premium system for sending out images to prospective buyers, but if they don't have the appropriate receiving hardware and software, the system breaks down and becomes inoperable. Sometimes this happens when both parties have excellent systems-- but they just won't talk to each other.)

You are a pioneer. Not unlike in the early days of aircraft and automobiles-- there were unimaginable frustrations. But there was -- and is -- also hope.

It may be a good while before "Distance Imaging" is perfected. In the meantime, we'll keep you up to date on progress.
